Fraser Magnolia, Mountain Magnolia, Earleaf Umbrella-tree (Magnolia fraseri) - Tree with a maximum trunk diameter of 5 dm., the twigs glaucous; leaf-blades elongate-obovate to obovate-spatulate, 2—4 dm. long, the basal auricles mostly directed backward; flowers pleasantly scented; petals elliptic to narrowly ovate, 6—14 cm. long; fruit-cone ellipsoid-conic, 7—12 cm. long, deep pink.

Habitat:

Mesic forests. A Southern Appalachian endemic
